Wireless Cellular Monitoring and Control - Making Your Life Easier Time and accuracy are critical components of a successful operation. The EDAC 300 Series cellular monitoring devices give you a rugged wireless solution to help with your real-time monitoring and control needs. Ideally suited to many industries, the EDAC 300 Series products are communications devices that allows wireless remote alarm monitoring and control via GSM, CDMA or NextG (HSDPA) cellular networks. Its applications are almost limitless. The EDAC 300 Series products are used in applications in just about every industry, where traditional fixed line telephone services are unavailable or not feasible.
Case study Tui Brewery has recently upgraded their already efficent plant monitoring system with a new EDAC SMS 300 Contorller to monitor and report on faults and to develop control of various plant and equipment via SMS text messaing. More specifically, this system monitoris the factorys general services site, the breweries fermentation plant and (most importaintly!) the keg bay.
How it works There are a number of specific conditions which the EDAC SMS 300 Controller monitors including the fermentation plant fault shutdown alarm, the keg bay fault alarm and the general service alarms. The monitoring of the fermentation plant is critical to beer production, as the process requires continuous fermentation, therefore must be operating 24/7. It is also essential to monitor the fermentation plant to minimize beer loss and optimize quality control. The keg bay is where all used kegs are returned to be cleaned and refilled, ready for resale. The monitoring of faults in the keg bay is critical during the automatic cleaning sequence at the end of each day. General service alarms include refrigeration faults, boilers, CO2 recovery and water quality.
Should any one of these alarms trigger, specified personnel are notified immediately via SMS text message. The SMS text message is then repeated every half an hour until the alarm is acknowledged. This repeating SMS text message ensures that if the specified personnel are unable to attend to the alarm, other managers will be made aware of the situation and are able to investigate. The personnel responding to the alarm will investigate the alarm and then make a call, as to the appropriate action to be made.
